Meet Our Chapter Leaders
My name is Katie Bryden, and I am the Chapter Leader of REACT to FILM AU. I am a senior at American University studying Film & Media Arts and Environmental Science. As Chapter Leader, I seek to engage students on campus to take action towards today’s pressing issues. I joined REACT to FILM AU my freshman year of college. I have watched our chapter grow from a team of four to fifteen, and I have seen the attendance at our screenings go from ten to fifty. I’m so glad that REACT to FILM has been a major part of my college experience. Not only has it taught me great leadership skills, but it has enhanced my film and documentary studies as well.
Hi my name is Breezy and I’m from Nantucket, MA. I’m a senior at Boston College in the Carroll School of Management, majoring in Marketing, and Management/Leadership, but I’m focusing my studies in the crossover between business and social justice. I have studied abroad in Costa Rica, Ghana and Hungary, but also has traveled to over ten other countries (the picture above was taken at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland). I am passionate about film being a great way to convey ideas and feelings and am excited to have just started React To Film at Boston College.
Abigail Kilcullen is a rising Junior at Boston College. With a major in Applied Pyschology & Human Development as well as a minor in Faith, Peace & Justice, she loves anything and everything that revolves around social change and creating awareness about important social issues. Her interests range from vegetarianism and fair trade, to international adoption and the justice system. As a longtime documentary lover, she couldn’t be more excited to see what this new club will lead to at BC and beyond.
Amanda is a junior at Boston University’s College of Communication where she is majoring in Film & Television and concentrating in Political Science. She hopes to make her own documentaries in the future and looks forward to sparking civic engagement on her campus.
Hi my name is Jessica and I am a sophomore at Boston University. I am a premed student with an undeclared major, but I know that my one true goal in life is to become an orthodontist. I am currently involved in the Ultimate Frisbee club sport at my school and I am so excited to be costarting a React to Film club at BU. I am excited to share amazing documentaries on campus and to discuss really important issues that impact so many people with the hopes of bringing the whole BU community together.
I am a junior studying Modern Culture and Media at Brown University. I have long been interested in the visual arts and particularly in the power of film to provoke social change. I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with REACT to FILM in order to inspire both film enthusiasts and social activists through participation and presentation of influential media.
I’m Esther and I’m a junior at Colby College, pursuing an independent major in Environmental Planning, Media, and Design. I spent half of the past summer studying French at the American University of Paris, and the second half doing readings and events for my first book, Constellations, a collection of poetry. As a writer and a lover of words and the arts, I am interested in the way truth is told and new things are created. I am fascinated by the capabilities of film as yet another medium, another form of communication, another vehicle for enormous change.
Whether it is on film, radio, print, or the almighty internet, storytelling has no limits. As an English major at Fordham University I realized the importance of sharing and writing these stories. When I’m not working on campus outreach and club collaborations for Fordham RtF, I’m producing video content for WFUV News. I also dedicate a few hours a week to Fordham commuter freshman, organizing events, 1st yearexperience programs, and encouraging new students to create their own college stories.
I believe in the power of film as the ideal outlet to entertain, inform and inspire audiences about important, relevant issues. I want to make films with deep, complex characters who grapple with thought-provoking ideas that will inspire audiences to think and rethink such issues.
